About this project
The Independent is one of Austin's most recognizable buildings: a 58-story residential tower whose stacked, cantilevered volumes give the skyline a silhouette all its own.
The design turns structure into expression — each shift in the massing creates terraces, amenity decks and a cantilevered pool that reach out over the city.
Honored with a CTBUH Award of Excellence and an AIA Austin Award of Merit, and even featured on the Science Channel's Impossible Engineering, it remains a defining Rhode Partners project.
